As a JumpStart Fund volunteer you’ll play a vital role in our mission to help refugees achieve self-sufficiency through business-ownership.

Current Volunteer Positions:
JumpStart is looking for committed volunteers for the positions listed below. See sidebar on right for application information.

Newsletter Developer
The newsletter developer position is a long-term position, requiring a year-long commitment. The format and structure of the newsletter has already been created. A volunteer would be in charge of the development, preparation and distribution of the Jump$tart newsletter. Our newsletter goes out quarterly, and takes several hours to prepare.

Requirements: Prior Graphic Design experience necessary. Attention to detail is very important.

Business Technical Assistance Resource Pool
JumpStart relies on a pool of business professionals to assist refugee entrepreneurs in areas such as:

  • Bookkeeping
  • Accounting
  • Financial Analysis
  • Contracts
  • Intellectual Property Rights
  • Development of Business Plans
  • Development of Marketing Plans and Strategic Plans.

Volunteers will be part of the Jump$tart Business Resource Pool to be called upon when a client is in need. Need is sometimes sporadic; time commitments vary.

Requirements: Prior experience with running a small business or providing small business technical assistance is required. Prior experience working with refugees or immigrants is desirable.

Marketing Materials Developer

Assist staff in updating brochures, flyers, and other marketing tools for the Jump$tart Fund. This will be a short-term project, requiring several hours of work.

Requirements: Prior graphic design experience is desirable but not required.

Volunteer Program Manager
Assist with the coordination and management of the JumpStart Fund Volunteer Program. The Volunteer Program Manager will work closely with program staff to develop and design new volunteer positions to fill program needs. Duties include:
1. Coordinating monthly volunteer program meetings.
2. Posting and updating volunteer positions.
3. Assisting with the recruitment, intake, orientation and management of volunteers.
4. Coordinating volunteer training sessions.

Requirements: Past experience with Volunteer Program development or coordination is preferred but not required. Past experience working with refugee or immigrant populations is desirable. Volunteer must have strong organizational skills, and an ability to multitask and manage others.
